Faith by Faith

Habakkuk 2:1
I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved.

Habakkuk 2:4
Behold his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith.

Romans 1:17
For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

The Apostle Paul references Habakkuk of the importance of faith.

I have received a gift that is beyond the measure of the counting of any gift that can be received.  It is the Holly Spirit of God.  The gift of the blood of the Son of God, The Lord Jesus Christ, that now sits on the right hand of God and is the perfect intercessor High Priest that hears my prayers for forgiveness and faithfully delvers them to God the Father, that my sins may be forgiven and I may have eternal life.  This is a short concise definition of that I am a Christian and the better for it.

My faith in God sustains me.  Faith is built and proven by faith.  Your faith grows as you stand in faith.  Faith in the love of Christ and in his promise of salvation and eternal life.  Our savior, The Lord Jesus Christ, gave his life for our sins that we, in all our weakness, could enter into the perfection of heaven.

For you young in Christ, know that faith is difficult in the beginning of your relationship with Christ, but it will become easier as time progresses.  The longer that you stand on your faith, the stronger that your faith will become.  As your faith grows, the Holy Spirit will reveal more of the will of God and the joy in your heart will be great.  Then the plentiful bounty that God has given to you: you can then begin to share and give back to God.

Faith also comes from knowing.  Always be a seeker of truth and wisdom.  Look to your bible and to your fellow Christians for answers and understanding.  Let the Spirit quicken your heart to the truths of God's purpose for you.  Do not discount the wisdom of the prophets and saints that have gone before us, for they long sought answers and truth from God.  We should learn from those that walked in the light of God before us to see what they learned that we would not seek the same roads again.  The Apostle Paul looked to the wisdom and truth of the Torah and the prophets of old as he referenced Habakkuk on faith.

In this season of thanksgiving, I give thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ for his promise of eternal life and thanks for the sacrifice of His blood at Calvary.   And the wonder of sharing my thoughts via such a wide sweeping media.

I also will recount some of my journey to this place in my relationship with Christ as I continue with these thoughts.  With each new posting I will chronicle the journey that has led me to share my love of Christ with you.

At about 8 or 9 years of age, I joined a local Baptist Church during vacation bible school.  I seriously doubt that I truly knew what I was doing, it just felt good.  A couple of years later, I went to live with my grand-parents and they carried me to church at a Primitive Baptist congregation.  There I learn fire and damnation, but I do not remember being encouraged to ask a lot of questions.  Their belief of predestination and just a hope of salvation did not stick with me and I soon wandered and, in truth had no relationship with God of any kind for many years.

As I neared adulthood, I found that I thought that I was the smartest person that I had ever met.  I knew everything and no one could tell me anything.  Thinking myself so intelligent, I did not figure that I needed a supreme being in my life, so I purposefully stayed away from religious events, places and affiliations with those that sought God.  But my life was never fulfilled and I started to read and study philosophy and any sort of far-eastern religions, but found no peace.

I was very hard hearted and refused to give in to the notion that a relationship with The Lord Jesus Christ held any value for me.  God is patient and time finally showed me the road to Salvation and what a joy the journey had been for me.  As I grew older and found that I was not as indeed smart as my younger self believed, the wisdom of elders that I had met in my life began to be evident and my lack of faith soon made me look for peace in my life.

In the future posting, I will look deeper into my journey to Christ.

May God's love keep you.
In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, Amen.
